A few years ago, a certain British gas company (I”m not naming names) utilised a piece of hold music that got a lot of people talking. Sadly, none of them were talking about how great the company was or even how much they enjoyed the music. No. People were talking because the piece of music in question sounded an awful lot like Clocks by Coldplay.
The trouble was that a lot of people knew that the song they were hearing was familiar, but they couldn’t quite place it, and it became increasingly frustrating.
In today’s video, I explain why the use of a soundalike track in your hold music is much of a bad idea than you might think.
